A Heavy Vehicle Registration Assessment Scheme (HVRAS) is a comprehensive evaluation of light & heavy vehicles or trailers. A certified inspector will assess your vehicle or trailer to ensure that it complies with the specific standards before it can be registered. Motor vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) exceeding 4.5 tonnes and trailers with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) exceeding 750 kg are required to undergo HVRAS inspection and measurement prior to registration. Note: Imported vehicles that have not been previously registered in Australia cannot be inspected and measured by HVRAS accredited persons. These imported vehicles must be sighted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads for verification with the vehicle import documents.
